How do you say 7.62x39?
I feel weird when I say the numbers out one by one. Isn't there some abbreviation?
|
Re: How do you say 7.62x39?
seven sixty two by thirty nine? what's wrong with that? or just seven sixty two
|
Re: How do you say 7.62x39?
the x is pronounced as "by"
seven point six two by thirty nine |
Re: How do you say 7.62x39?
that's the only way i've ever heard it.
I guess you could say 'commie bullits' or 'terrrrrist bullits' Actually, i've also heard it refered to as 'AK ammo', and although it makes the stickler cringe, i'm guessing everybody knows what is meant... |
Re: How do you say 7.62x39?
heh, 7.62 commie bloc short.
But yeah, its 7.62 by 39 |
Re: How do you say 7.62x39?
I always say seven six two by three nine. Thats usually what the ammo guys at the gun show say as well.
|
Re: How do you say 7.62x39?
I just call it "seven six two thirty nine".
If you don't know what this means, I probably wasn't talking to you anyway. |
Re: How do you say 7.62x39?
I say "seven sixty-two thirty nine." I don't think it's really necessary to say the "by," and most of the people I know say it the same way I do.
|
Re: How do you say 7.62x39?
76239:bull-buddy-icon:
|
Re: How do you say 7.62x39?
"seven six two by thirty nine", or "seven six two Russian" are how I usually refer to it
|
Re: How do you say 7.62x39?
762 by 39
You say the 39 to differentiate it from other 762 (30 caliber) rounds. There are 2 other fairly common rounds called 762 in the US, 762 by 51 which is the Nato round more commonly called 308 here, and 762 by 54, a fairly potent Russian design military cartridge. |
Re: How do you say 7.62x39?
7.62x39=297.18
So I usually just say... Hey Holmes, pass the tew niney seb'en pint eighteen hunnerts. It just seems easier and less confusing. |

nine oh one two oh.
(please file under: "How to turn a perfectly masculine thread totally gay in one second.") |
Re: How do you say 7.62x39?
Ooops.
I juxtaposed the "1" and the "2".....:banghead: |
Re: How do you say 7.62x39?
I have ALWAYS called it 'THREE NINE'. ANY ammo dealer will know EXACTLY what you are talking about, AND KNOW the 7.62 is a given.
If you get someone who does NOT know about ammo, then you might need to say 'AK three nine' ammo. Much shorter. |
Re: How do you say 7.62x39?
How about 30 cal commie.

Just say this. It's technically correct and after timing myself I found I could say all of it in less than 2 (two) seconds. Had to order an engine for my truck and wouldn't you know it they wanted all those numbers. Couldn't just say Dodge, no... had to say three eighteen even had to add magnum to the conversation. |
Re: How do you say 7.62x39?
762 by 39 ...
|
Re: How do you say 7.62x39?
seven six two three nine.....
but sometimes loosely call it ak ammo..... being it is the most common caliber fer da ak |
Re: How do you say 7.62x39?
7.62x39 = AK47
5.45X39 = AK74 These are both AK's. If you ask for AK ammo... or if you simply say give me the AK 39 ammo... just sayin. |
Re: How do you say 7.62x39?
seven six two doesn't cut it.
Seven six two by thirty nine is unique. Otherwise you might get: 7.62X54 for the Moisin-Nagant 7.62X51 = 7.62 NATO = .308 Winchester 7.62X25 Tokarev 7.62X38 Nagant Revolver 7.62X63 = the venerable 30-06 7.62X33 = .30 Carbine And you guys call yourselves survivalists. God help us. :D:D |

Not me though:no_ma:. Back to the title of this thread. Seven point six two by thirty nine. I usually just saunter into the establishment, belly up to the counter, look the storekeep straight the eye and growl "ammo" and he'll shove a sealed case of 7.62x39 (seven point six two by thirty nine) towards me. I'm cool like that. :smokin: |

Anyway I pronounce it correctly: Seven Six Two by Three Nine. :D |
Re: How do you say 7.62x39?
This thread just reminded me to go pick up some AK-101 ammo...
|
Re: How do you say 7.62x39?
seven sixty-two by thirty nine
|
Re: How do you say 7.62x39?
Seven six two by three nine.

I use a completely different approach when I'm after 5.56x45. I generally prance into the establishment, sashay up to the counter, gaze demurely at the storekeep and in my best Richard Simmons impression lisp "bullets pleeeez" and he'll gently place a sealed tin of AR15/M16/AK101/NATO/5.56X45 (five point fifty six by forty five) on the counter. It's all in the delivery my brothers. :bear_w00t: |
Re: How do you say 7.62x39?
LOL
i knew I shouldn't have said that.....:confused_ma: |
